What is a profession?

Government professions are groups of people who share common skills and expertise across departments and agencies. More than just networks, they’re communities that give you access to specialised learning, career pathway guidance, and the chance to connect with colleagues who truly understand your work and its challenges.

There are 19 government professions in the Home Office. Every role connects to at least one primary profession, and many people find value in joining a secondary one too.
